Psychiatric specialists to match
your MRO panel’s needs.

Psychiatry Experts partners with Medical Reporting Organisations as a specialist psychiatric and psychological panel for PI matters where your standard panel doesn’t carry psychiatric coverage — PTSD, complex PTSD, psychiatric injury, chronic pain psychology, neuropsychological assessment, malingering and symptom validity testing, bereavement and capacity overlay. Your panel handles the orthopaedic, the GP and the pain medicine. We handle the psychiatric and psychological component to your templates, timescales, and to CPR Part 35 standards.

01 Overview

We cover the psychiatric component that
your panel doesn’t.

Medical Reporting Organisations are built for a volume of Personal Injury reports — orthopaedic, GP, pain medicine, and radiology.

What most MRO panels lack is consultant-level psychiatric and psychological coverage for the matters where the psychological injury component drives the quantum, complicates the causation, or determines whether the claim proceeds at all. PTSD following serious RTA. Complex PTSD in historic abuse. Chronic pain where the psychology is the material factor. Neuropsychological assessment on TBI where the cognitive profile determines the care package. Malingering and symptom validity where objective psychometric testing is what the defendant needs.

“Your panel already has orthopaedic surgeons and the GPs. We can provide you with the consultant psychiatrist, the chartered clinical psychologist, the neuropsychologist or the trauma specialist — the psychological evidence layer that turns a physical-injury claim into a fully-evidenced multi-disciplinary case.”

02 Referral Scope

Eight psychiatric referral categories
for MRO panels.

The psychiatric and psychological evidence categories that MROs commonly route to us; each requiring consultant psychiatric or chartered psychological opinion that standard Personal Injury panels don’t carry.

01

Psychiatric Injury (General)

Consultant psychiatric assessment for depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder and psychiatric conditions following personal injury. Condition & prognosis, causation and quantum reports — the psychiatric evidence that converts a physical claim into a fully-valued multi-disciplinary case.

02

PTSD & Complex PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder following RTA, workplace accident, clinical negligence or violent crime. Complex PTSD where the index injury sits on top of prior trauma history. Trauma-specialist psychiatrists and psychologists with documented experience on these cases

03

Chronic Pain Psychology

Psychological assessment where chronic pain, somatic symptom disorder, functional neurological disorder or pain catastrophising is in issue. Clinical and health psychologists’ opinion on the psychological component of chronic pain and its contribution to quantum.

04

Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychologist assessment for traumatic brain injury, concussion sequelae, post-concussion syndrome and cognitive profiling. Standardised psychometric testing battery, quantified cognitive deficit and the care-needs implications.

05

Malingering & Symptom Validity

Objective psychometric assessments of symptom validity, exaggeration and malingering using validated instruments (SIMS, TOMM, FBS and equivalents). The evidence defendant solicitors and insurers need when the credibility of the psychiatric presentation is in issue.

06

Historic Abuse (Psychiatric)

Claims arising from historic sexual, physical or emotional abuse where the psychiatric evidence is the claim — trauma trajectory, disability of disclosure, limitation arguments, CICA applications. Trauma-informed assessment methodology include pacing, content control, post-assessment support.

07

Fatal Accident & Bereavement

Psychiatric assessment of pathological grief, prolonged grief disorder, bereavement-related depression and PTSD following fatal accident or violent death. Condition & prognosis for bereavement claims. Consultant psychiatric opinion on the trajectory of recovery.

08

Capacity & Vulnerability Overlay

Where the claimant’s psychiatric state raises questions about litigation capacity, capacity to instruct, capacity to manage an award or vulnerability requiring adapted assessment. COP3, litigation capacity and best-interests opinions from the same panel.

What stays on your panel

Orthopaedic reports, GP reports, pain medicine (physical), radiology, surgical and nursing evidence. Psychiatry Experts is a psychiatric and psychological specialist chambers — we don’t provide physical medical evidence. 04 MRO FAQs

Commonly asked
MRO questions

Do you cover the full PI report or only the psychiatric component?

Only the psychiatric and psychological component. We are a specialist psychiatric expert witness chambers — we do not provide orthopaedic, GP, pain medicine (physical), surgical or radiology evidence. Your MRO panel covers the physical; we provide the psychiatric/psychological layer that adds clinical depth to the claim and supports the quantum of psychological injury.

Can you deliver in our MRO report template?

Yes. Your proforma, file structure, clinical headers and schedule of questions are applied at the point of instruction. Psychiatrists and psychologists are briefed on the format requirement before assessment. For framework arrangements, a format-specification document is agreed at onboarding.

How quickly can you provide a CV and fee quotation?

Within minutes for standard psychiatric injury and PTSD instructions. Same working day for complex matters requiring neuropsychological assessment, multiple experts or specific sub-specialism matching. Court-deadline matters are flagged at intake and expedited allocation confirmed immediately.

What about malingering — can you provide objective symptom validity assessment?

Yes — using validated psychometric instruments (SIMS, TOMM, FBS and equivalents). This is one of the most common MRO referral categories: the defendant insurer challenges the psychiatric presentation and needs objective, quantified symptom validity evidence. Forensic psychologists and clinical psychologists with symptom validity expertise are available on the panel.

Do you accept LAA-funded matters through MRO partners?

Yes. This is a common route for MROs whose principal PI book doesn’t include LAA-funded criminal or family work. Quotations are structured within LAA hourly rate caps. Deferred payment terms are available for LAA-funded matters.

What if we need both psychiatric and orthopaedic/physical for the same claimant?

Your panel provides the physical medical evidence; we provide the psychiatric/psychological component. The two report sets are complementary, not competing. Where our sister chambers Medical Expert Chambers is also instructed, a single case manager can coordinate both physical and psychiatric evidence streams — but either arrangement works equally well.
